  • Need some eletrical stereo help

I have a Neo Car Jukebox now sort of installed in my car. For power I wired into the HVAC fuse located in the fuse box in the floorboard of the passengers side. The fuse was a 10 amp and the draw of the Neo says it is only 2 amps.

I have skipping problems with the Neo and they say that this is common when it's not getting enough power and recommend a "dedicted homerun powerline" to the Neo.

The person that sold this to me also sent a relay and a device that is suppose to delay power untill after the car starts up because the hard drive won't have enough power to spin up while starting the car.
The relay is Potter Brumfield Vf4-45f11 and the other device is PAC Model TR-4. The relay has 5 connectors on the back that are labeled 30, 85, 86, 87 & 87a. The PAC has four wires:
    Yellow - Battery
    Green - Trigger Input
    Blue - Trigger Output
    Black - Ground
The blue wire is connected to 85 on the relay and the yellow wire was connected with some orange wire with a wire tap that came from somewhere.

The person that sent this told me to call him when it got here which I did. I've tried emailing him and calling and he seems to have disappeared. Can anybody instruct me on how to wire this up? I can't find instructions or diagrams for either of these on the internet.

Here is the website for the Neo: http://www.ssiamerica.com/products/neo35/index.shtml

Yeah, the PAC TR-4 will delay power for 1-second. The Tr-4's trigger output (blue wire) puts out 12volts; however, the amp rating is fairly low (only 1 to 2 amps I think) since it's mostly used to connect to low current triggers like a remote turn on lead for an amp. I could be wrong but the relay was probably used to convert the low amperage (+)12v trigger output of the TR-4 (blue wire) to a higher amperage (+)12v trigger.

dedicted? You probably meant run a dedicated power wire directly from the (+) battery post to the Neo. If you go this route, make sure to fuse the wire (put fuse as close to battery as you can).

If you want to use that TR-4 device with the Neo, wire the TR-4 wires:
    Yellow - Constant (+)12volts
    Green - Switched on/off source
Blue - To 85 Pin on Relay
    Black - Ground (-)

    Relay:
87 - fused Constant (+)12volts. (use the dedicated wire directly from the (+)terminal on the battery).
    85 - Blue wire from TR-4.
    86 - Ground (-)
30 - (+)12volt power on Neo Car Jukebox.
    87a - Not used.

      Just thought of something...
Does the Neo Jukebox have a (+)Switched AND (+) Constant wire hookup?

If all it has is just a Ground and one Positive wire hookup, that tr-4 device may not be such a good idea. The Neo probably needs a Constant hook up to store memory or settings. The way I described on how to wire things above would obviously break the Neo's constant connection once the Tr-4's trigger is turned off; that or when the ignition key is off.

The Neo doesn't have to have a constant connection, it needs to be switched with a delay.
I'll run by RadioShack and get a fuse holder and try to get this wired up tonight.

        Thanks

Then the TR-4 and Relay should do the trick. Let us know if it works.

Well, I got all the wires to where they needed to be and everything mounted and then found out that I don't have enough connectors for teh prongs on the relay. I'll get some on the way home tomorrow and finish it up and post if it works. Thanks for your.
