  • Need help with this amp

Me and my friends hooked up two Pioneer IMPP 12 inch subs with a 200 watt fosgate amp and a pioneer deck into my girlfriends car. Everything is fine and dandy except the speakers are giving out engine noise. When I press the gas petal I hear this noise coming out of the speakers "WHIIIIIINNNNNNNNNEEEEEE" kinda like that. It seems to get louder as the engine RPM's gets higher. I cant figure this out. please help.

You can try moving the ground wire from the amp to a different location. If that doesn't work, generally engine or alternator whine gets picked up by the RCA cables. Might have to replace that.

Most times when you get feedback from alternator whine it's because you ran the power wire from the battery along beside the RCA's. Anytime you route those two wires, seperate them on opposite sides of the car. I know a lot of guys that run everything the same way. Either along the kick panels or down the center console. Re-route the power wire along which ever side the battery is on, whether it be left or right and then route the RCA cable on the opposite side. The remote wire should be routed with the power wire as well. The reason for the feedback or "whine" noise you're mentioning is because of the electrical field around the power wire interfering with your sound signal from the radio. The two fields just don't mix well. More than likely, that's your problem.
