ok im assuming the motor has gone bad (it hastn quit it is makeing this grinding sound when i try to make it go up or down and the window wont move really sounds like something is stuck in the gears) anyway i still have warranty but it is gonna run out in a few months so hear is my q

after doing a search on this and dealing with it i have replaced these things may a time and know that the gm ons suck. and i found a in a search that a guy found replacement motors from autozone i beleive with a lifetime warranty. should i jsut fork over the cash for those and forget the warranty from gm or get it fixed knowing that it is gonna die again and i wont have warranty and have to pay for it later.

or does someone think that the problem can be fixed on my end. (i could replace a motor myself) advicec woudl be great

I would use gm's. It's free, so if they go bad again you could go to AutoZone and get those, save you some money right now. just my .2

I wouldn't try to replace the motor yourself because the motor and actuator come as one, they are welded together so it's not just a matter of replacing the motor. Instead it involves taking the glass out and it's just a big pain in the butt. Just do yourself a favor and let GM take care of it. That's what i did when mine went. Otherwise i would have had to dish out 350 bucks between parts and labor!

^wrong for the most part, but I agree with Bobs. Might as well have it replaced for free. Who knows, it might even last 100,000 miles. On a side note, plenty of people have posted how to replace just the motor and I've done it twice myself. It is a bit of a pain though and I'd definately let GM tackle it if I was still under warranty.

they're called rivets....either way...get it replaced under warranty...ITS FREE!!!...then, when your warranty runs out, you can goto autozone and get your motor with a lifetime warranty...I believe it was me you were talking about cause thats what I did...or if you get smart you will keep searching the board and find a guide I wrote up on how to fix the motors for only pennies...it involves taking the plastic piece off the motor where the plug is, then replacing the thermistor, that you can get ar radioshack....the motors dont go bad, the thermistors do....for those that dont know what a thermistor is its a fuse that is opened and closed by heat....thats what keeps your motor and your wiring harness from burning up and catching fire.... ;) ...good luck
