How the hell do you remove one of those? I'm trying to reinstall my stock stereo deck and I have zero clue how to remove the install kit for the sony explode I had installed.
Edit: By install kit I mean the plastic and metal that holds the new stereo deck in place. Need it gone because the stock stereo is twice the size of my old one lol.

Remove the plastic trim that surrounds the A/C controls and your old "kit." The plastic trim pulls off in one piece. With that off you'll be able to see a few 7mm bolts on each side that hold the "kit" in.

Pry with care using screw driver. Theres 4 pins holding it on, just gotta pop em out. It won't break unless you're quite rough with it so don't worry about that.

Where are the pins roughly? So I know where to pry and don't pry on a weak link.

The pins are larger in diameter than you'd think, held on with metal fasteners, and on all four corners on my '00. I use a screwdriver also, and you could put a rag behind it if you're really paranoid about scratching things.
Yes, it takes more effort than you'd think, and no, you won't break it. I've had mine out at least 4 times so far and I was worried about the same thing.

K k I'll try it in the morning. Not enough light right now. I know a good deal about engine and performance stuff... not a damn thing about the interior lol.
Actually I got bored and did it in the dark. I lost one of the three bolts that holds the stereo in but it should be fine with 2 untill I can find the other one (ie. the sun comes up). Stereo works again! I HAVE MUSIC!!!

On mine 2 pins are at the top corners, then the other 2 are about 3/4 of the way down the sides of the piece, not all the way down to the corners. don't know if it's the same for all years.
