  • BCM gone bad? What is it?

Sometimes hen my car is cold and I turn the key to accessory there's a constant clicking noise from under the dash on the driver's side like a bad relay that goes in sync with the door chime while the door is open. It goes away if the door is shut, but comes back when it's opened. It doesn't happen in any other situation like with the key not turned to accessory and the chimes on.

It's at the dealer now and they said they ordered a new BCM. It seems odd to me that the BCM is on the passenger side and the clicking comes from the driver's side. Can anyone clue me in as to what the BCM does?

Edit: I just called back and they said a relay in the BCM is backfeeding through the wiper motor and causing the clicking. Weird, but I guess they know what they're doing. I had to take it to a dealer out of town to get this thing fixed.

BCM = Body Control Module. It's similar to the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) for stuff not related to engine/transmission.

Mine actually worked perfectly fine except for the clicking noise it would make sometimes in accessory with the door open. I probably wouldn't bother fixing it myself, but my factory warranty is still good until February 15th so it's on GM.
