  • Best wiring kit...

I'm planning on ripping out all the current wiring and uninstalling my whole system. Reason being is the previous owner of my car rewired the car himself and did a horrible job. It has fried my head unit once already (take in mind I have a deadhead) which I've heard are hard to fry. I'm planning on installing my Clarion, new Clarion tweeters, and 4 Kenwood 6.5s all in the doors and back. All these into my APX 400.4 amp. My question is what is the best wiring setup to get? I was thinkin Street wires or whatever. I know jack on wiring so what should I get to have good sound and solid wiring? Thanks.

To be completely honest there is VERY little difference between brand names. Be it Stinger, Streetwire or Road Gear. And it's definitely not something you are going to be able to hear. Check out www.knukonceptz.com or www.darvex.com . Both have great prices and bomb customer service. Now, interconnects. These are a little different. You will want to get a quality set. A poor set of interconects will easily allow noise to be induced into the signal to your amps. No need to spend $100/pair, but don't buy the swap meet brand either. Just look for a set that uses twisted pair construction and you should be alright. Around $20/pair online should be a good price. One note, most interconnects that come with wiring kits are junk. Yes, there are some exceptions. But usually they just put the cheapest pair they can find in there. Just for looks so they can charge more.

The thing I noticed with alot of those cheap wires is that they will say its a 8 gauge wire but its actually 10 or its a 4 gauge wire and its really an 8 because they include the outer sheet in their measurment.

I went with Streetwires....great stuff....maybe a little high for wiring, but I used it in mine, and have installed systems for friends with nothing but compliments.
