  • Help ma make sure i have this right....

im going to hook up a switch to the sensor in the dash that turns on my lights automatically when its dark. im going to cut the wires and connect them together. run a wire to where i want the switch to go. connect a connector to the wire and connect it to the switch. get a wire for a ground and ground it. is that it?i feel like im missing something. is one of the wires im going to cut going to be a ground? if so, what should i do with that?

How many wires are coming out of the 'sensor?' I'm assuming the purpose of the switch is to be able to override the sensor?

Should be an easy mod, don't ground the switch. Just cut one of the wires on the sensor (it doesn't matter which one) and wire up the switch "in-between" the cut wire. The switch will break the sensor's circuit when in the off position thus disabling it.

ok, thanks. so cut the power wire or just one of the wires. attack a connector to each cut end and plug and play?

I'm not sure if it's going to be a "power" wire or not, it doesn't matter. The sensor more than likely is just completing a circuit once it senses darkness. You need to stop the sensor from making a complete circuit so it can't do it's job. If there are only two wires coming out of the sensor, just pick whichever one you want, cut it, and wire the switch in-between it like in the diagram.
