your gonna have to give us some more info. But based on what you gave us, check the simple things first.
-Is your battery charged? If you have a multimeter you can check this by doing a static votage test on it. Neg lead on neg batt. post and Pos. lead on Pos. Batt. post. If you get 12.68V or higher that indidcates 100% charge, If you get around 12.45V that indicates a 75% charge. Even with a 75% charge on the Batt you should have enough juice to start the car.
- Have you checked for loose, corroded connections, or moisture? That can cause high resistance and in the starting circuit and lower the current to a point where you wont have enough amps to start the car.
Again just keep it simple at first to isolate the problem. No need to jump into it and start coming to huge conclusions about where the problem might be if you havent checked the basics.
Send us some more info and keep us updated. ;)

O by the way, a short is usually indicated by a blown fuse, fusible link or sometimes fried wires. Sounds more like you have an open unless you let the smoke out somewhere.-Chris
2001 Pewter Camaro M5
Current Mods: NOS Dry Kit and a few others
N/A: 15.5@88.9MPH
N2O: ???
http://www.cardomain.com/id/jtusa69888
