i know most people dont like these, but i have my reasons for doing them, so respect that.

im trying to figure out what the best way to mount them is (by the pedals, and on the passengers side) and what the best way to run the wires is. im going to just run it through the hole in the firewall on the passengers side, but where should i mount the switch?
if i mount some in the back, should i just run it under the panelling on the bottom?

You dont have to go thru the firewall if you dont want to, you can tap into your radio power wire, and wire in a switch..
best way would be to probably buy the smallest neon tubes you can get, the bigger you go the easier you will see the bulb.
they usually come with stick pads on them..
or you could buy some double sided tape.. heat it up to make the glue tacky and stick it on
also zip ties are the best thing in the world!

I just tapped into the cig lighter wires and mounted one under the dash on each side. I put the switch in my glovebox so it is hidden

I used wire strippers.. you dont cut the wire, you just slide the plastic coating that covers the wire over, so the bare wire is exposed., and you wrap the bare power wire of the neon around the exposed wire.. and tape it with electrical tape,. make sure there is no bare wire exposed after taping.

If your cigarette lighter does not work, theres a few things it could be, it could simply be a fuse.. or maybe the plug fell off the back of the cig lighter.. pull it apart and try to track the problem.

hit me on aim if u have anymore ?'s. more than willing 2 help.

I'd say get some cathodes, they are brighter than neons.

what color are you going with?

you have to be careful pulling the power from the cig lighter or radio, becuz they can only handle so much power. so if your going to use a couple id run a line from the battery.

im debating the color. i was thinking that green would go really well with the SOM, especially if i tint the windows and get black leather seats eventually. then i got thinking it might be smart to go with orange, but the orange would have to be nice i think to look good.

i will probably mount some by my subs/amp, then light up the passengers side and the drivers side. i dont know if i will bother with the back seat yet.

i couldnt find how to get to the firewall from inside, and im not in the mood to rip everything out. last time i did, i had problems putting it all back in.

the easiest way to do it is:
                      1. pull the plastic bottom part of the dash off.
                      2. leave the hood open, pull the pcm out.
                      3. pull the gromet all the way out, and push your wire through a little.
                      4. look under the dash for the light coming through the hole.

                      id go with orange.

Neons pull next to no current. You will be fine tapping into the cig lighter or another +12 source. However, just how many you planning on running? If we're talking 7-8-9 12" tubes... might wanna think about running straight off the battery or possibly tapping into two different locations on two seperate fuses.

i was just going to run enough to light up drivers and passengers feet and then maybe my subs in the back.

Yeah , you will have no problem with neons hooked to your cigarette lighter or radio power..
you can even go into a fuse in the fuse box..
like stated b4, neons use very little current..

I used a step drill uni bit and drilled a hole thru the firewall on the drivers side under the master cylinder with a grommet.

That is how you are supposed to do it as a trained technician, rather than using other Pre-grommeted holes
