Hey everyone, I was wondering if the newer grand am monsoon stereos would work in our cars. I was curious because they look neat and they have that info button as well as some other features. I am pretty sure that it is the same size. It would be neat if we could just swap it with our old monsoon stereos. Thanks everyone.

Hey, I don't think it would work. The reason being is that the Grand Am Monsoon unit has the RDS system. Now, in my last car which was a Crapalier, it had the RDS system too. I talked to a few different people, and they say that its damn near impossible to replace these radios. They all said that if it has RDS on the front of the unit, than there is a SRS Airbag module of somesort inside the actual radio. IMO it wouldnt work because that airbag relay would have to be connected so the radio thinks its connected to the computer in the Grand Am. Then there's the subject of having the pins/harnesses to match up which I haven't the foggiest clue if they are the same or different. Maybe if you headed over to the Grand Am board they could shed some more light on the subject? Well, I don't know for sure but I have a Monsoon Head unit in my camaro with bose. The monsoon headunit came from a 2001 Transam.
