Hey I have a 2000 v6 firebird that came with the stock alarm system, and I CANNOT stand that honk when I lock the doors with the remote. I don't have an owners manual, only a service manual that doesn't say crap. So anyone know? Thanks.

Check your manual. It tells you in there how to program things like, honking, flashing lights, lock delay, lockout prevention, security, etc.2002 Pewter V6 Camaro M5 <br /><br />Quickest stock-motor N/A V6 4th Gen F-body.<br />2nd Quickest N/A V6 4th Gen F-body overall.<br />mods: Gear, weight reduction, tuning <br /><br />Fear the Gear. 13.585 @ 100.05 1.827 60\'<br /><br /><br /><a href=\"http://www.NJFBOA.org\" target=\"_blank\">www.NJFBOA.org</a>

Well, I stoped by my car between classes and picked up my manual. Here's what it says:
--------------------------------------------
Entering Programing Mode
To program any feature, your vehicle must be in the programing mode. Follow these steps:
1. Put your key in the ignition
2. Turn the ignition to RUN to disarm the content theft-deterrent/alarm system.
3. Turn the ignition to OFF.
4. Remove the RADIO fuse. This fuse is in the main fuse block, located on the left side of your instrument panel. See "Fuses and Circuit Breakers" in the Index. [I doubt you'll need this, but if you do I'm sure someone else or myself can get it for you]
5. Turn the ignition toward you to ACCESSORY.
6. Count the number of chimes you hear. You will hear one or two chimes depending on the features your vehicle is equipped with. Refer to the chart shown previously. [If you want this, e-mail me and I'll try to make a version of it up in Excell to e-mail you or make it in html for you]
You can now program your choices.
To exit the programming mode, follow the steps listed under "Leaving Programming Mode" later in this section.
...
Remote Keyless Entry Verification
This feature provides feedback from the remote keyless entry transmitter
Programmable Modes
Mode 1: All Off (The headlamps will not flash and the horn will not sound to provide you feedback that a lock/unlock command has been received by the remote keyless entry transmitter.)
Mode 2: Horn and Lamps/Lamps (Your horn will sound briefly and your parking lamps will flash when you press LOCK on the remote keyless entry transmitter. Only your parking lamps will flash when you press UNLOCK.)
Mode 3: Horn and Lamps (Your horn will sound briefly and your parking lamps will flash every time you push LOCK or UNLOCK.)
Mode 4: Lamps (Your parking lamps will flash every time you press LOCK or UNLOCK.)
Mode 5: Lamps/Horn and Lamps/Lamps (Your lamps will flash upon the first press on LOCK, your lamps will flash and your horn will sound upon the second press on LOCK and your lamps will flash pon any press on UNLOCK.)
Before your vehicle was shipped from the factory, it was programmed in Mode 5. The mode to which hte vehicle has been programmed may have been changed since it left the factory. To determine the mode to which your vehicle is programmed or to program your vehicle ot a different mode, do the following:
1. Press the UNLOCK button on the remote keyless entry transmitter.
2. Count the number of chimes you hear. The numcber of chimes tells you which mode your vehicle is set for. (if you do not wish to change the current mode, you can either exit the programming mode by following the instruction later in the section or program the next feature available on your vehicle.)
3. Press the UNLOCK button again on the remote keyless entry transmitter until you hear the number of chimes that correstonds to the mode selection you want.
The mode you selected is now set. You can either exit the programming mode by following the instruction later in the section or program the next feature available on your vehicle.
...
Exiting Programming Mode
When programming is complete, turn the ignition to OFF and reinstall the RADIO fuse.
--------------------------------------------
Like I said, that came straight out of my 2002 Camaro owner's manual. It might be different for your car, but I doubt it. Hopefully it'll help.

Wow Rob I really appreciate the effort, but I don't think they're the same, there's no Accessory on the ignition. I tried it anyway and it would never sound the chimes no matter the combination. Thanks though.
Anyone have a firebird specific manual?

The ACC position is turning the key to the rear. The postion towards the front is "ON" and of course after that is start. The key does not stay in the start position. You have to hold it there while cranking and then it falls back to the "ON" position while the car is running.... I think it's been the same on every single car since the beginning of time. lol :D
