• Talking Amps For A Minute ...

    Ok, question ...

Is it really worth it to spend $500 on a zapco amp that produces 225w? or spend $219 on a Boss Ripper amp that "Says" it produces 2000w?

Currently I am running Interfire 900w amps, I spent $200 a piece for them and have very few complaints.

you pay for what you get. better amps don't come cheap and are often dishing out much more power than they say. most nicer amps also give much more clean power. so to answer your question, yes.

buy the JL 1000/1, it's cleaner than the zapco and about the same price.

i agree. good amps cost more $, for obvious reasons. Don't think that the good amps are dishing out that much more power than they are rated for, but rather cheap amps numbers are often greatly exagerated and the power isn't nearly as clean (doesn't sound as good)-- IMO

i haven't ever really understood the cleanest attribute. is that saying that there's going to be some distortion to it? or possibly buzzing? or that it won't be able to push it to hit more notes?

if he's going to have 4 subs pounding, i don't think he needs the cleanest power going to it.

i'm probably wrong on something here. but i'd like to know.

                yes, and static, and ect.

That's just the crossover, any sub can amplify any signal, the crossover will determine how low they will hit. I think the lowest a human ear can hear is 20 or 30 hz.

Then why waste a lot of money for something to sound like crap? If you're going to do it, do it right.
