Howdy folks,
My '97 has been a reliable and fun workhorse for over eight years now, but has developed some electrical problems.
#1. Infrequently, the radio (and power windows) will suddenly lose power. I'll see the Theftlock light blinking, and after a short time they'll both come back. I've tried quick acceleration/deceleration to see if I've got a loose wire flopping around, but I can't really get verifiable results from this.
#2. My stock Delco stereo head unit's far right side lights don't work, and my CD player is unreliable. Sometimes, it will start playing just fine, other times it won't get the initial disc read and "ERR"'s out. When it does play, if I use scan/skip it often will "ERR" out. Only after I've left a disc playing in there for a while will I be able to jump around on the disc. I tried everything from cleaning to replacing the unit with an identical (but new) unit, and it has the exact same problems. Right before it errors out and ejects the disc, it sounds like it's trying to position the laser arm, but "not quite getting it" and doing fine adjustments, just to miss.
I'm toying with the idea of hooking the old one up to a 12 volt radio shack power supply to see if the problems magically go away on it (w/ regard to reading discs)
In any case, my babbling's gone on long enough. If anyone has any ideas and/or experience with/on this, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks!
