I've got this 200w Crossfire system
It has 2x 12s, they ARE DVC!
(I would rather have 2x SVCs, cause 2x SVCs is louder than 2x DVCs).
N E wayz, each speaker says 2/8 ohm (wtf?)
I guess 8 ohm is = to 2" Dual 4 ohm???
The amp is 50x2 @ 4 ohm. (200w)
It is a bridgeable amp (which I want, cause bridgeable means more power).

I dont know how to wire this DVC system.
I want to do parallel wiring if the subs are able to do 2ohm.
Please help! What are your recommendations???
thanks!!!!

DVC in parrallel gives you 1 ohm.. not 2... umm there is a wiring guide on jlaudio.com... i dont know the exact URL of it but its under tutorials i think? check it out it will tell you how to wire them up whatever they are

First, subwoofers using a SVC design are no "louder" then those DVC. DVCs just give the user more flexibility in how he/she wants to wire them to the amp. It's also easier to run 2 amps to 1 sub when the sub is DVC. (If SVC, the amps have to be strappable) Outside of having two voice coils, the DVC sub is exactly the same as the SVC.

98% of all amps will run 4 ohm AT THE LOWEST when bridged.

You're in luck. Your subwoofers are dual 4 ohm. You can use a series/parallel wiring scheme to achieve a final load of 4 ohms nominal. Bridge the amp and run your subwoofers just like this:

Check it out here!

are you sure 98% of amps run 4 ohms when bridged... i had both my systems wired at 1 ohm and then bridged the amp?

not all amp's can handle 1 ohm. very few actually.
and although that wire diagram is the correct way to wire a dvc, there are other ways and sometimes it needs to be done to the specifics of the subs.
check the instructions in the box that the sub's came in, and it will say if you are running it mono, or 2 channel, it will tell you how to properly wire them

thanks 96firebird, i wired it exactly like that, and this is the first time its worked.
I like this wireing scheme cause its bridged.

OOOPSey!! the way I wired it was a "PARALLEL/PARALLEL" which is a 1 OHM!!!!
OOPS
The wiring scheme you show is a "SERIES/PARALLEL" which is 4 ohm.
It hits hard, I dont want to change it but I'm afraid if I just run 1 OHM its gonna fry the AMP!! aghh

jlaudio.com's tutorial says that
"SERIES/PARALLEL" should be avoided..

If your amp says 1 ohm stable that you should be ok
if not, change it becuase it will fry the amp.
i had that happen to me once, and my interior smelled like an electrical fire for like 6 months.

Yeah, it sounds like you're barely understanding and getting by, but definitely wire it like 96firebird311 posted.

no, I unplugged the "parallel/parallel" wiring and redid it with the "serial/parallel" as recommended. much safer
I'm sure the amp is not a 1 ohm stable.
I need to get a new amp, cause I dont want to underpower these speakers.
thanks

Underpowering the subs wont hurt anything.

Overpowering them will but i would definatley change the wiring until you figure something different out so you dont ruin the amp.

under powering a sub can cause severe clipping at higher sound levels .. the amp cant keep up and the out put signature goes from being a nice sine wife to a square a wave the peaks of the square wave are like dc current and can fry a speaker in no time by over heating the voice coil peace

yeah, i thought so
can you explain what clipping sounds like?
what are the harmful sounds at high decibel (SPL or whatever)?
