  • Adding Hands Free Kit to Camaro

I am new to car stereo equipment but not to electronics. I am wanting to install this Raytel Tellphone 4000 Bluetooth Hands Free(HF) car kit. This is what an online dealer is telling me:

"your problem is wattage output, you have to put it between the amp and the speakers of the car and if you have more than 35 watts the relays in the HF kit can not handle it and will burn up"

So does the stock monsoon system have more than 35W between the amps and speakers? If so, is there any way to still install it without having to replace the amp?

The installation manual is located at:
    http://www.tellphone.com/index.php?o...id=1&Itemid=21

    Thanks for the help,

P.S. I bought three of these for $459 each from slickcar.com, I may only need two of them and would be willing to let one go for $350 shipped if anyone is interested, they are all still NIB.

what kind of phone do you have, im pretty sure they make a kit similar to that , that is alot easier to install.... and somewhat cheaper..
That doesnt make much sense to me.. see your kit must play thru the speakers of the car.. you can get a kit where it comes with a speaker that can be hidden under the dash, and a microphone goes in the top corner of the windshield.. ive installed many before but none like that.

      also
between the speaker and the amplifier is where all the power is at ( watts ).. and the monsoon system does put out more than 35 watts..
i think any aftermarket radio you get is going to put out at least 50 watts per channel.. a non monsoon deck would probably put out more than 35 watts. but im really not sure.

Doesnt make much sense to me? Id call tech support and tell them your situation. see what they can do for you.

stock radio maybe puts out 15-20 watts per speaker.

an after market radio for sure can produce 20-25 watts rms per channel.

No after market radio can output 50 rms per channel, what your looking at is peak power.

In the installation manual it says an external speaker has to be used if:

"the car radio's speaker output power exceeds 35 Watts (sine-wave) per channel and the car radio does not have line-in connector pins"

So does this apply to the Monsoon system in my 98 Camaro?

            Thanks,

I think you will need to use an external speaker then..
I dont think you have a line in connection pin.
