Does this sound about right?

I know I could find better parts but this fits into my budget. Just wondering if there are any problems with it...

Alpine SPR-176 component speakers
JBL 80.2
JBL 300.1
Alpine 10" SWS-1041D
Rear speakers removed

Sub goes into subthump stealthbox, amps onto amp rack. Any problems with voltage? Basically, how would this do? Not looking for anything big, just something nice.

I ask since I know nothing about ohms and bridged. Someone suggested this set-up, individually they get good reviews and the prices are right. [img]smile.gif[/img]

If you are SURE you don't want any rear speakers, then it looks pretty good. Many people like the solid front stage only route. However, some do not. I have to ask because you said somebody recommend this setup to you. If your SURE this is what you want, then it looks good. You will not be bridging anything, so no worries there. The 80.2 will be running at 4 ohms per channel and the bp300.1 will run at 2 ohms. Looking good. Looking good.

If you thought you would want some rear fill in the future, get a 4 channel amp now. Even if you don't use the extra 2 channels, it will save you from all the re-wiring and adding a 3rd amp. I haven't looked, but surely jbl makes a 80.4--right or something close for? Get that and your 300.1 [img]graemlins/thumbsup.gif[/img]

Another thing you could do in a pinch is just run the rear channels off the hu. They don't need as much power as the fronts anyway.

I think I might run them off the HU then. I would be getting the Alpine 9807 HU.

The price difference between the 80.2 and 80.4 is roughly $50.

50 is really not much in the way of amps. i would suggest getting everything except your mids and highs amp and run it all off your HU. if you are happy with how it sounds stay with that if you decide its just not for you get the 80.4. Also i suggest you listen to the type S if you haven't already. some like it some dont (i dont). you can use more than 2 brands it is ok, look into getting some infinity kappa perfects from www.ikesound.com they are only $100 and are lightyears away from the type s's. another place to check is ebay. i have owned a pair of the old XR series subs from alpine and they sucked, and my neighbor has the Type R's and niether of us think to hightly of alpine subs now. sorry if this is not the kind of info you were looking for but i would hate for you to get your system hooked up and then hate it like i did with my first system. :(

Another option is to get the 80.4 and bridge it into 2-channel mode to run your components. More power, plus if you ever want to add rear speakers, unbridge and use as a 4-channel amp.

if your decide to get the 80.4 and bidge it be sure you dont have the gain all the way up. JBL amps are pretty powerful (definately the best for the money).

An amp can output rated power without the gain all the way up. Actually, with a line driver, it can do it with the gain all the way down. Every knob labeled "gain" should be re-labeled to read "sensitivity".
