I just bought some alpine type-r 12's for my car, will they sound pretty good, and will they make my car rattle?

They are great subs, but it depends on the box. In a poor box, they will sound like In a good box, they will sound awesome. I've had two of them hit 147db without even trying.

Great subs for the money. May I ask how much you are paying for them? Don't pay more then about $115 each.

Yep. Still a resonable price, but they can be had for cheaper. What box are you putting them in?

oh, and these suckers can take a ton of watts!! be sure to feed them!

my friend had two of them, but he didn't give them enough power and blew them.

Type R's rule. I "only" have one 10" sub and it sounds pretty good. Get complements all of the time. I have all Alpine (deck,speakers,4-channel amp, mono amp, sub) Sounds Killer.

blew them might be the wrong word, but they stopped working. some stereo shop guy said it was because he wasn't feeding them enough power...

yes right, and your car doesnt run right because you dont have enough aftermarket equipment.

salesman ploy to get you to buy a bigger amp.

you cannot blow a speaker by not providing enough watts.

how does this misconception always get spread anyway. no you can't blow a sub by not using enough power. just match the subs rms with the amps rms to a similar number with the lowest thd and you will have a very nice sounding system. if your looking for a good clean powerful amp you can pick up an xtant 1001dx for about $300 and its one of the nicest amps ever made (in my opinion).
