I'm getting the sound system redone in my 1998 camaro and need to know what to go with. I've heard alot of good things about the Infinity spearkers and really think that they would be the way to go, but what kind. Another area of concern is if i keep the stock head unit will i still be able to use an amp and what size amp sould i get to drive the front speakers along with the backseat side speakers. I new to audio and want to use the input of experinced people instead of just trial and error. I figure enough people have tried time for me to just listen to them. Please help i don't want to have a worse sound system then i already have. Thanks in advance. You can even e-mail me at iceman0529@hotmail.com
I'm glad to see someone who wants opinions on equipment BEFORE they buy a whole list of junk. First thing--are you sure you want to keep the stock HU. The best thing you can do for your system is replace that first and foremost. Put in a nice CD player at least. As far as speakers, the infinities are OK, but there's definately better out there. Depends on your budget of course. Infinities are good up to kike 50 watts or so. If you went with some Boston Pros or MB Quartz or even Focals you could push over 100 watts RMS to each. I'm talking components here not coax speakers.
You can replace the speakers in the rear sail panels if you want. A vast majority don't run anything in there because is ruins your soundstage. If you do put some speakers back there, put in some lower wattage midbass speakers. Don't put any tweeters back there like the last guy Lol. Probably 50-75 watts is plenty. Are you adding a sub to this setup? As for amps, this depends on the speakers you choose and if you opt to put speakers in the rear sails.
For instance, I'm planning on getting some focals components for the front and some midbass for the sails. Mostly because I can turn off the sub so I need a little bass when the subs are turned off. I'm thinking about a good 75-80 watt by 4 channel amp for those. I have two subs and a Rockfor Fosgate Power 800.2 for those. Then my system will be complete. I made a judgement error the first time I replaced my front speakers. I put in two sets of kenwood coax speakers. They sound ok to a point, but are severly lacking--enough said. So go listen to some speakers. I strongly suggest components up front if nothing else. If you need a sub enclosure, look at my site for some examples.
Ok my system really sucks i had them put in replacema=ent spearkers all the way around and know it sounds wose. The guy at the place said he had trouble with my croosovers and i'm wondering if maybe he deleted my crossovers and my amp. Because i have the moonsone system and it sound ok before i went in and know it has no bass and it has no punch. If i tryto turn up the volume alll i get is high piched fuzy and it really pisses me off. does anyone have an idea of what i should do other then take it back and tell them to put my sh$t back in and have i nice day. I'm trhink of doing that and having another place do all the work for me. install a head unit and subs and a couple amps and maybe even some componets because i am not going to ride around with a sound system that sounds worse then factory. So to sound so pissed but i need to vent and i guess you guys are all i have so if you have any ideas pleas let me know.
Dude what part of ohio do you live? ANYHOW...if that place made your stereo sound WORSE than the monsoon...id say that place SUCKS as an installer and/or you didnt choose the right speakers to replace the monsoon ones.
If you're keeping the stock stereo, one of these http://www.affsave.com/pac.htm needs to be installed. If you plan to replaces the head unit later don't bother. The reason it sounds like crap is because the stock Monsoon amp sucks and if they ran the new speakers off the Monsoon amp the impedance doesn't match with the stock speakers. That's why they play real low.
Personally I don't run rear speakers, but now that you have them might as well keep them I guess. You should invest in a 4ch amp to run those speakers off of.
Where exactly is boardman north of me or south. I work in broadview heights during the day but i get off at 3 so i can check some of them out then. Does any of them deal with alpine systems. I think i'm going to get all alpine componets put in my camaro. Maybe we can meet up one day and compare rides. Just e-mail me at iceman0529@hotmail.com.
Not much going on, replaced my Kenwood double din stereo with a Pioneer double din, the Kenwood had problems. Then replaced my power inverter for my reverse...
Hi all new to the community here. I have a 2014 RS 6 speed manual... and so about a year ago my tail lights got cracked and eventually the plastic housing...
