Anyone know how to disconnect the stock theft deterrent system?

My car broke down tonight. As I was driving, my stereo turned off, and it seemed like the power wire was disconnected or something. When I arrived at my destination 5 minutes later, I turned my car off and checked all my fuses in dash and under the hood... and all were good.

Then I tried starting my car, and it wouldn't start. When I press the theft deterrent button, there was no response. My door lamps also don't work. The only things that do work are the headlights and the autolock button.

Anyone ever had this problem? I think it's my ignition or something... but why would my stereo die out, my door lamps, and my accessories?
I'm beginning to tire of having problems with my car!

Stereo, door lamps, accesories and I believe the alarm, all have one thing in common: They're on the same fuse, (if not, they're all in the same fuse panel) Check the connections on the incoming wires for that fuse panel, and double-check your fuses. Sounds like a popped fuse to me.

You may also want to check the alarm, especially if it's any "aftermarket" sometimes they put in-line fuses in those and they don't tell you about them. But i don't think this would casue all the problems you described, however it could be somekind of malfunction with the alarm brain.

Get this... I had my car towed from my work to this college auto facility for 45 bucks... the teacher there told me he can fix it. Then he looks at it for like 20 minutes... and says, "I can't fix it. It's an electrical problem." So I'm like, "Okay, um..." So I get it towed for another 45 bucks to Pontiac. I could have saved 45 bucks... So why am I laughing?!?

So I paid 200 bucks labor to have them take out my stock theft thing. Rip off... and the door lamps and stereo didn't work, not to mention the key chime(when the key is in the ignition). I added my own fused power wire straight to my battery, and it worked. I don't want to ever take it to the shop again!

Could have been a fusible link.

It sounds like you lost just about everything in the I/P Fuse panel.
I would assume that this panel has a dedicated fusible link.

You know that red thing mounted on the front passenger side wheel well?
It has one big wire going into it, and bunch of smaller wires coming out. Those wires (most if not all of them) are fusible links.

Another problem arose... my 100 amp fuse broke. I moved my wire when I was taking out the ECM, and I put it on something that got very hot when I was driving, and it melted my 4 gauge wire. :( I replaced the fuseholder with a circuit breaker, and the wire. I hope this is finally it... I hate having my car away from me, in some repair shop where I can't see it.
