Just wondering if anyoen might know what hte problem is. I have 2 12" kicker comp vr's, and just replaced the memphis 500w rms amp, bought it used off of ebay. problem is the power coming out varies, like when i hit bumps i notice i get more bass for a couple of seconds, then it suddently goes does, then another bump bass goes high again. could it be the wires shorting out? or possibly a bad amp sold to me? any help would be appreciated

Check ALL your connections and make sure they are snug. If that doesn't solve it, then it's most likely something internal somewhere and you'll have to live with it unless you want to replace things one at a time and find out when the problems stops and once it stops, you'll know the problem lies with the last thing you changed.

Another thing you might want to do is listen real closely to see if the extra output when you go over a bump is somehow a clipped signal (i.e. you hear distortion from the subs when it happens). If you hear distortion, you do not want that extra power.

its an aftermarket head unit, sony cdx-mp70. my mids and lows don't get louder after bumps, just the bass, and not distorted it sounds good. i'll go ahead and recheck for loose cables.
