In my car I listen to pretty much two different kinds of music, most of the time I just listen to rock music. Whenever I want to go cruise in town I like to listen to something with a lot of bass, that usually being techno(I don't really care to much for rap, techno is a pretty good bass alternative). Anyways, if you guys could put together a decent system geared towards rock/techno music. What kind of a system would you build? Maybe give some examples of some nice systems yet still afordable and some dream systems.

Well, how much money do you want to spend? Do you have anything now like a head unit that can still be used in a new system?
My system consists of
Sony HU - $200
Diamond Audio Hex S600s front components - $320
Autotek MX500 amp for the components - $325
JBL BP1200.1 amp for sub(s) - $300
2 Audiobahn AW1200Xs subs - $200 for both
custom dual 12" stealth boxes - $500
all installation accessories - about $75
Keep in mind that other than the Sony and subs, the rest is the top of the line stuff. I'm going to replace the 2 12s soon with a single Adire Brahma 12 and sell one of the custom boxes. I'm also going to replace the Sony with something new, probably spend about $500 there for something great. So, this is no cheap task. With all the crap I have laying around that I don't use i've probably spend $3500-4000grand in the past few years on car audio. So, make sure you do it right the first time.
By the way, I only listen to rock and techno too. As far as techno goes, if you havn't already, check out a dude named Dieselboy. He is damn good.

I'm really trying to see what kind of systems people would suggest. If I was going to get one now I would probably want it in the 500-1000 dollor range. I don't want anything to extreme, for now anyways, and I'll be sure to check out Dieselboy. Thanks for the reply.<a href=\"http://community.webshots.com/user/maniacls1\" target=\"_blank\"><b>2001 Firehawk #155 of 504 -M6</b></a><br />437 RWHP / 404 RWTQ -Dynojet (heads/cam)<br />12.34 @114 mph 1.7 60\' (bolt-ons only)<br />12.47 @116 mph 2.0 60\' (street tires, heads/cam)

Rock is great with a sub that reproduces bass drums well. A ported box would do well for rock. I prefer ported boxes over any other. They don't need as many watts as sealed boxes, and you can hear it distort easier than you can hear a bandpass distort, which is safer, if you want your sub to live long. They're typically louder than sealed boxes, but this all depends on each individual sub, as they all have different characteristics, and sound different in different boxes.
Like ChameleonGreen said, what do you want? Do you want fronts, or deafening bass? Trust me, you'll want fronts to match the bass! If not, at least get an amp for your fronts because the sub will be getting WAY more watts than your fronts, and the bass will sound over-powering.

Well, I'd suggest a couple tens or so. If you want to take peoples heads off with bass, then you want 15's, but they don't respond well with rock. Most larger subs waffle bad too. If you like the sounds of 12's, then I'd go JL or Rockford Fosgate for your price range. That or maybe the cheaper Kicker subs. For a deck, Eclipse, Kenwood Excelon, or something eqivalent. Keep the 4v preouts though. For an amp, I'd suggest Rockford all the way. You can't really afford any better performance for the money.
For example, you could get two HE2 tens($200 to 250), ported enclosure($150 to 200), Rockford Fosgate 350S or something similar ($400 or so). Choose your own head unit, that's kind of a preference thing. Just an idea.
Does that help at all? You might want to take a gander at Alpine too. They make some good stuff for your price range as well.

15 inchers are as good as the box built and the watts given, as well as small stuff like wiring.
If you want Rockford, check out their Power series(is it Power HX with this years model?!?)
My bro has a single Rockford Punch Power 15, with a ported box and a Punch 800a2. He listens to rap and hiphop a lot, but who doesn't like rock??? We're into old rock, like GNR, Metallica, Poison, and stuff like that... and it sounds great! It reproduces kick drums to a tee! But when he plays stuff like Deicide or Sepultura, with heavy bass drums, his system is awesome! It handles "attack and decay" pretty well. This sub even sounds great with songs like:
My way, Click Click Boom, Chop Suey, and stuff like that. Some punk stuff like Decendents, or Gorilla Biscuits, sounds a little soft, but that's how it was recorded anywayz...
His 15 was louder than three sealed alumapro 12's.
The box was built exactly to specs, and is one of the loudest single sub setup I've heard, and louder than a lot of people's multiple sub setups that I've seen and heard.
The only thing I don't like about his system is that higher bass, around 80 hz and up, is a little soft, but it is crossed over around there. I'd tune it lower and get midbass drivers, maybe 8's, up front.Massivefirebird\'s <a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/id/leondb\" target=\"_blank\">(leonDB) Cardomain</a><br /><a href=\"http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/cgi-bin/flowmaster\" target=\"_blank\"> Flowmaster 80</a>, <a href=\"http://www.knfilters.com/\" target=\"_blank\"> K&N FIPK</a>, <a href=\"http://www.jetchip.com/\" target=\"_blank\"> Jet Stage 2 & 180º T/S</a>, <a href=\"http://www.boschusa.com/AutoParts/SparkPlugs/PlatinumPlus4/\" target=\"_blank\"> Bosch quads</a>, <a href=\"http://www.pilotautomotive.com/pilot2dn.htm\" target=\"_blank\"> Pilot 1055 Fogs</a>, <a href=\"http://makotoautotrends.com/\" target=\"_blank\">Clear turn signals</a>, <a href=\"http://www.autoventshade.com/\" target=\"_blank\">AVS rear blackouts</a>... <a href=\"http://www.massiveaudio.com\" target=\"_blank\">2 Massive CW 12\'s</a>, <a href=\"http://www.kicker.com\" target=\"_blank\">Kicker 2252, 652,& 352 XI Amps</a>, <a href=\"http://www.mbquart.com/2003/en_US/home/\" target=\"_blank\">MB Quart</a>.
