So i have 2 12inch alpine type s, some guy offered me a kenwood amp for very cheap, the only problem is that it is 800w. Is that enough to power those subs well? What kind of wat rating should i be looking for to power these subs?

We need to know more about then amp. You have a model number? Maybe thats 800W MAX. Or maybe RMS? At 2 ohms? 4 ohms? I would recommend atleast 600WRMS for the pair. -

150x4 at 4 ohms
400x1 at 4 ohms

ok ok. This is a 4-channel amp you want to run in bridged mode. Now, I can guarantee you that this amp will not run at 2 ohms when bridged to a single channel. Meaning you are dealing with a 400W amp my friend. Unless he is giving you a smokin deal on it.....I'd pass it up. How much you looking to spend for your new amp?Comment

Well i got the two alpine type-s 12s, and that amp for 300 shipped. I can re-sale the amp and get a new one, all of the stuff was brand new in the box. Ouch. Well..... I'd use the Kenwood as it was intended and power four of my 6.75"s. Are all your speakers still stock? You don't have monsoon do you? The JBL BP600.1 will give you 600WRMSx1@1 or 2 ohms. Great buy for the money.Comment

What is the ouch? Are you saying that i overpaid? Well yes i do have the monsoon, so wouldnt it be a waist to use it as a speaker amp, and yes all of my speackers are stock for now. Yes. That is a tad much. You can get the Type-s's for $120 a pair. Can't say I know what the amp goes for, but anyway.... what is the impedence of your voice coils. On the subs. 2 ohm? Dual 2 ohm? If you can wire each one to 4 ohms, you can bridge 2-channels together and power each sub off 2-channels. If you don't think that's gonna be enough power, sell the Kenwood and buy the JBL. Yes, the JBL will power both subwoofers.Comment

Yeah so in the intrest of keeping my t-top i sold one of my 12s. So i am going to buy the 12inch pasanger side cubby box and use my amp for just one sub, that will be enough power for 1 sub right?

the jbl 300.1 will power your one sub
your bass will sound fine and full. low frequencies are not directional.
for around 200 shipped off ebay get the 600.1 so you can upgrade later if you decide to.
