I have a 1992 Firebird coupe and I got some new 3-way 6x9 speakers to replace the factory speakers in the rear quarter. The magnets for the new ones are SIGNIFICANTLY larger than the previous ones, and therefore barely fit into the stock enclosure. I noticed that there is quite a bit of black foam insulation-type stuff in there, and what I was wondering is, can I and/or should I cut away at some of that so the magnet has room to move? I know that magnet can't touch any of the body of the car, I just wanna' cut some space out in the foam, but not necessarilly completely remove the foam. Thanks.
