A while ago, I paid to get an amp installed in my car from Tweeter. Recently, I'm wiring up another amp and I'm re-doing all the wiring.
I noticed that when I had the amp installed at Tweeter, they ran power wire from the battery junction box, to an inline fuse like 6" away from the junc., and that went all the way back to the amp.
I wanted to put the new inline fuse in the same position, but I didn't want to go through the battery junction again, I wanted to go straight from the battery to the fuse. I was worried that the amps would draw so much power from the junction box that I would get effects such as lights dimming when the speakers were turned up.
The problem is, I read everywhere that the fuse needs to be within like 18" from the battery? If I do it my way, it's like 30" from the battery.
What should I do?
Should I just run a bigger wire to the junction box, and from there, go to the inline fuse, then to the amp? Or should I just move the inline fuse holder closer to the battery, and just bypass the junction box and go straight to the amp from there.
The bat junc. is more then 18" from the battery? I'm not exactly sure what a battery junction is, why isn't there a fuse between the battery and the junction?
Thanks!
