• POLL: EQ settings in your car

I was just wondering what kind of EQ settings some of yall have on your systems? I mean like, is there more bass than treble, vise versa, a little of both....

Mine are:

Bass - down
Mid's - up
High's - nuetral
gain on my sub - about half

and I have my speakers faded all the way to the front! Just the way I like it.

I think that this would be a good way to find out how many SQ junkie's we have on the board and how many Bass freaks there are. ;)

Personally, I'm an SQ junkie!!!!

i got a nice smooth V or U shape. bass slightly lower then the highs since my amp puts out a little too much power for the 6.5's. that's prolly the only good thing about the stock headunit in pontiacs, the handy EQ. :D

Flat all the way. Fronts high passed at 80Hz, subs low passed at 80Hz. Sounds REAL damn good to me. But, i'm sure true SQ fanatics who've been doing audio for a while would find time alignment problems and maybe a couple dips in frequency response.

Oh yeah, no rear speakers, ever.

:D level out the bass cause i have the input for my amp turned way up, mids at halfway between level and max, and highs are maxed!
that way i get my bass and my SQ

I have kind of a square-root shape.. hehe

on a -8 to 8 scale:

Bass: 0
Mid: -3
Tre: 8

I love my crisp highs, and I control the bass with the Punch bass remote.

I listen to talk radio in the morning drive and music at night. For morning, I push the lower two bass controls all the way down. It kind of annoys me that DJ's / radio talk guys put extra bass in the sound. At night, the bass comes way up, exact settings depend on the type of music.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

EQ settings don't necessarily display how a system sounds, cause certain systems could require different tweaks for good SQ, but i love having everything balanced. I can't recall my exact EQ settings right now, but it sounds good. And of course its faded up front. I dont even have rear speakers except the sub.

I also tune some of the settings such as bass according to the type of music.

I used to have an EQ, but THD is higher with more and more stuff like amps, HU's, and EQ's. I used to like the V shape. I'd keep the low bass(40hz) a little over mid point, and have everything start a little up and work it's way down to the middle, than a little higher on high frequencies. I didn't like to over kill the highs because it made the tweets to crisp for my tastes.

I too keep mine u- shaped however I do have a bass volume control knob so if I listen to deep bass music I can tune the bass down if needed. I've been working at a car audio shop for about a year and 1/2 now and I find all kinds of different preferences. I myself, like the bass but not to the point that my car is falling apart. When helping a customer design a system, we always ask then what they are looking for... Most seem to want BIG BASS than anything.

Coundn't agree more. Head units are different, speakers are different etc. etc. That being said,
bass:-6
mid:+4
high:+4
I too have a remote bass boost knob to adjust with the type of music. I love it.
