My stock Monsoon 200 watt CD Player seems to skip an awful lot now when I hit bumps...what's up?

maybe clean it out or something??

Not too sure on that one, that was the first thing I got rid of in my car, was that whole stock setup thing

lol. I kept mine, the Monsoon isn't THAT BAD. It's loud and has some bass. If you turn it up to levels where you'll lose your hearing it'll crap out...all good for me.

Ya, I think that it might need some cleanin! And the Monsoon systems are very good for being a stock system! I love mine!!

Mine seems to skip a lot too, but only when a cd is very slightly dirty/scratched. It's really bad when it's slightly dirty and I hit a bump. The cd's work fine in other players (over bumps or not), just not the Monsoon deck. I've tried cleaning it twice and it's still not any better. I'm probably taking back to the dealer to get it fixed/replaced (I'm thinking it's a problem with the laser).

The only skips I get are with scratched / dirty CDs.

perhaps it needs cleaning, but this may be a sign of the laser going out of alignment!

Know what .. this happened to my stock Monsoon system. It would skip on EVERYTHING and when I brought it to the dealer, they were like naw it's fine and told me to clean it. Week later I went back and almost flipped out at them so they replaced it. Few months later it started up again. I got fed up and ended up replacing the damn headunit for a not so expensive Sony that plays mp3s. Never skips...ever. It's not the greatest unit around and I want a nicer one but I swear to God GM can't make anything that lasts the 1st time.

if you live on the northern half of the country i'd wait until it warms up to see if the skipping stops. my system skips all the time in the winter, never in the summer though.

*edit* oops just looked at where you're from. ignore this post!

My cd unit also skipped a lot and now it won't even play a cd everytime I put one in it spits it out and err is displayed. It might be the same problem. If the laser is out of allignment can it be fixed?
