  • Subs drowning out front speakers

I have 2 eD 12's with 900 watts rms. so now i need more from the front speakers. id really like to avoid running another amp. but my question is would better speakers help. i got pioneer 6.5's i got at walmart for 70 bucks they handle 180 max. i was thinking maybe a set of elemental components for the front and a good set of 6x9's in the back(i know ill hvae to make them fit). i have a pioneer p6600 hu and it puts out about 23 watts rms to each speaker. its not like i cant hear them. i just want more clarity and slightly more volume.

Whatever speakers you use up front you're going to have to use a separate amp to make them louder. The power from your head unit just isn't going to cut it with two 12" subs in the back blasting away. Time for a good 2-channel amp.

time to go back to ed for more toys ;) . get a set of the 6500 components and nine.2 amp. i wouldnt bother with the 6x9's though. try soundstaging it first and see how you like it. if you dont then i would recomend just getting some ed 6000 6.5 speakers for the sails and just run them off the stock equipment. you will be very happy with this setup. only thing you will need after this is an eclipse hu with 8v preamp outputs to get the best sq possible.

haha i was waiting for you t-punk. that does sound like a good idea just run the fronts and run the backs off the HU. i might just get eD[i] 6000s System + eD NINe.2 Amplifier. i dont have enough money for the 6500's. but i know its a deal, you cant go wrong with elemental. it will be awhile before i get them, though. i just ordered 60 more sq ft of edead. so when i put that in the doors maybe it will help keep some sound in.

well there are actually a couple you can choose from. basically its the high end eclipse hu's. they have a very high voltage pre amp (8V to be exact) wich alows you to run your amps with a lower gain and still get the same sound level from your equipment and can also improve audio quality. the ed amps can use 7v of the 8 you send them (the other volt they basically just dont use) this puts them into their peak efficiency and helps them shine even more. I havent heard the 6000 series speakers though but i personally wouldnt use them as my primary speakers. i talked to some of the ed techs and they said the 6000's are nice but there is a pretty big difference between them and the 6500's. i would really just buy the 6500 component set for the front and run them off the nine.2. also look up soundstaging on this site and www.elitecaraudio.com because you might be happier doing that (its actually the right way to do it). oh and here is a list of the eclipse units you should look into.

            CD8454
this is the newest and best and it is priced accordingly. only look into this if MP3 or memory stick is something you have to have, otherwise you can get an older modle.

            CD8052
this is a slighly older unit but is still extremely nice. this is the one i had when my system was in my car (im now using my car for hurricane storage so i lent out my system). this also has an internal amp so you could still run you rear speakers off of it if you decide to do that.

those are all i can think of off the top of my head. i know there are at least 2 more worth mentioning but i cant remember the modle numbers.
