Rear Speakers won't work, Head Unit heating up, WHY? HELP!

Ok. Just so you know what I'm working with and what I have done etc., here's all the background info. I have a 93 Z28 with the Bose sound system. (Two speakers up front, one on rear shelf.) When I bought the car it had a JVC Kamelion CD player hooked up with one of those OBD1 converters (I'm guessing to make the Bose system work properly) The Kamelion looks to be an older model Kamelion. It doesn't have the round knob that comes out for the volume, it's got the two buttons instead. Kind of like how the track selector buttons are, just one of those on each side. It seems to be the upper model Kamelion, it's got the little RPM adjust thingy and other cool little things that it does. The way it's wired looks like either they put RCA's into the kamelion or the kamelion already had them and they wired it to the OBD1 converter. The RCA's hooked up are "Front Speakers" for the front two and "Rear Speakers" for the back Bose 'Sub' and "Subwoofer Outlet" for my subs. On the rear of the cd player, the eight colored wires that would have been used to hook up normal speakers are just laying there. I love my bose system, but the sound when my amp and subs are bumpin makes it so you can't hear the music to well. So, I hooked up two more rear speakers in the locations that they would normally go in the back seat area. I just ran some wire to the speaker and then hooked it up to the back of the stereo where the eight wires were dangling. (The ones that weren't being used cuz of the RCAs) I made sure they were the right one's (LF Rear and RT Rear) and the stereo sounded AWESOME! I had those two in the back that would play the songs loud and clear so it sounded like a full system and not just subs bumpin. Ok, so heres the story. My cars battery was dying a few days ago. It would start but when my stereo and lights were on it started to drain FAST. My radio started to lose and regain power (shut off and on) so I shut it off. Then I smelled something like burning plastic. Just a little, not too strong and what looked like a bit of smoke coming from the center console / stereo area. So I just kept it off. On the way home the two speakers that I added kept popping, even with the stereo off. Once they popped we could smell that burnt plastic smell. So I get home and change the battery and start her up. The stereo works fine, the regular bose works fine, the subs work fine......but no two rear speakers. So I take my deck out and the back corner on the drivers side is HOTTTTTTTTT. I burnt myself. It's that hot after only being on......maybe a minute. That's also the side where those eight speaker wires come out. I check my wiring and make sure nothing is burnt and torn. All the wiring checks out. For some reason the CD player won't play from those anymore. Why? Is something shorted in the cd player? It gets REALLY hot REALLY fast now. My cds come out SCORCHING. Any help is appreciated.

My guess's are:
-You have a hot wire hooked up wrong,
-Ground wire too small somewhere,
-Speaker wire(s) hooked up wrong,
-Hot wire that has a split and grounding out somewhere,
-Or...a bad amp

I had a sony that got extremely hot, and I found that I had a ground wire that was way too small and corroded. Replaced it with a new 8 gage wire, and my problems went away.
