  • Run at 2 Ohms if You Can?

My sub amp runs at 200w rms @ 4 ohms or 275w rms @ 2 ohms. I have a JL Audio 10w3-2 sub and I just thought of the fact that I could run change the wiring on it (its a dual voice coil) so that I could run it at 2 ohms.

Is there any disadvantage or reason why I should do this at 2 ohms? Is it bad for my alternator to pull that much power? (Along with 115w rms X 2 for the front channels)

Is there ever any reason to run at 4 ohms when you could run at 2?

The only advantages of 4ohms over 2 is less THD, but you won't be able to hear the tiny tiny differemce, amd 4ohms will draw less power. You know that one though.

In any case, that sub won't run at 2ohms. Only 1 or 4.
