well to be honest i agree with firefighter. you are much better off if you just buy an hu (i recomend iawa for a cheap entry deck) and run the rca's. line level is the worst solution for adding a sub. do it the right way and you will be much happier. i'll ask around and see if i can find out what might be causing this. i have a guess (and this is being pulled out of my *** as i have never encountered this problem). It could be that becuase you are running off the hu that it is pulling all the power from it to power just the sub because it has more draw on it. this would result in the other speakers not getting any power and hence no sound. again this is a wild guess. i dont mess with line level very often because i wont let people i install for do it, it's the wrong/ghetto way to add a sub.

if your running it from both of the back speakers that could be causing it. combining the channels together. i was playing around one day and i hook up a cheap sub. i ran it of both back speakers and it cut like that. but when i ran it off one speaker, it was fine.
and i wasnt saying fire fighter was wrong. he just usual says his comments in a negative way. and doesnt really offer any help in this case.
Its fun to be blunt and vauge sometimes though :D . my advice is to go to a reputable shop like a sound advice and ask them what the problem could be (the tech's their are pretty good).

ok, so i wont do that, so if i try only 1 channel it may help?
now it only does this at a very high volume, so if it wont hurt anything then i dont care cause i will never really turn it up that loud, i just noticed it when testing it.
