• JL Audio people COME IN!

Ok well I have been thinking about re-doing my stereo with some more JL stuff.

Right now I believe I have the W3 speakers (after looking at pics on their site). Only the W3 and the W6AE look like my speakers do (see my car domain site).

So my questions...
I have Lanzar tweeters right now(cheap replacement after I blew one of my JBL Tweeters), are the JL Tweeters worth the $119 or will I not even notice the difference?

Also, is it worth spending the money upgrading to the W7 or something? I am VERY VERY happy with my speakers now, but they aren't as loud as I want them to be. They are very damn loud, but I want to blast a damn rock concert from my car lol.

Any lastly... my 6 1/2s in the door are powered off the deck (50x4 watts) and I can barely hear them. My uncle is going to power them off one of the amps when he changes my 1 amp for 2, but I don't know if they will sound all that good. They are JBL speakers, don't know what kind (pics on car domain), but would they also be worthy of upgrading to some JL 6 1/2s? I want to just put the best ones in there so would that be the JL XR653-CS ones? Sorry for the codes and junk, I am just taking the names off their site.

This just came to me too, should I keep my current tweeters and get some JL ones too so I will have 4 of the 1" tweeters? Or will it sound crappy?

I love my JL 12s so I figured maybe the rest of their stuff is good too. They don't exactly have a bad reputation

So... is my stuff worth upgrading or should I just see what happens when I change amps and get my stereo rewired? The original wiring is a big tazmanian cluster fock.

Thanks a lot guys.

edit- By the way, if JL wouldn't be the best tweeters for very loud and clean sound... what would be? For 6 1/2s and 3 1/2s too?

the best mids and tweeters you can buy are from 3 companies, CDT, MB-Quart, or Boston Acoustics. these are a little on the expensive side but are way worth it. As for your subs here's how it goes, if you have the W3's then they are pretty loud but not to clear, if you have the W6's they aren't quite as loud but are extremely clear... but if you want the loudest clear sounding subwoofer on the market get a W7, one might even be enough to make you happy. One 12W7 is about as loud as 2 10W3's but much more clear. The other thing about the W7 is it only takes about 1cubic foot of are to sound right (not bad for a sub this big). so if you want the best go with the W7. also it depends on what amps you are getting, if you are getting JL amps you wont have any problems (JL and Xtant are the best amps around), but if you get another brand make sure it will keep up with your sub(s), and your mids and highs (oh and i would not suggest 4 tweeters it will probably be a little to much on the high side but thats just my suggestions)

I think it will either be 2 MTX or Rockford amps. My uncle knows how to modify the punch 150 and punch 45 amps and they sound awesome.

How much are the W7s? Pretty expensive aren't they?

the W7's run about 450 on ebay, but are totally worth it. as for thte amps, out of those two i would go with MTX, They are much more powerful and i think they even sound better.

I could probably sell my 2 12s for like $300... it would be $900 for 2 W7s though... hmmm...

you probably wouldn't need 2 W7's. they are strong kung fu. if you get 2 you would also need 2 amps cause one amp cant handle 2 no matter how nice the amp is. I would suggest going somewhere and listening to one so you can understand how nice just one W7 really is, especitally the 13W7.
