  • Setting up a system in my drop top, need opinion

Alright guys, I'm planning on designing a complete sound system for my car and taking everything out the interior one day to put it all in, tell me what you think

I already this headunit installed: Pioneer DEH-7400MP

    This is my "hypothetical system":
    Front- Infinity Kappa 60.5 components
Rear- Infinity Kappa 63.5i coaxials or Pioneer D170R
Subs- 2 12" Kicker CompVR DVC (running at 2 ohms) 400 watt RMS woofers
Powered by a 300 (600 watts @ 2 ohms) watt mono Kicker amp

    Any suggestions?

good choice in speakers, they are one of my favorites. as for the subs, i would think twice about it. It really is worth spending the extra money and getting better subs. My favorite subs are the kappa perfects. they give the best of both worlds, great sound and some nice volume as well. kicker amps are nice, they tend to hold up pretty well, not a bad HU either (I am extremely patial to alpine but you still got a nice HU). other than the subs its a pretty nice system, but what kind of box are you lookin at getting. i would suggest the one that is placed at the bottom of the pit (trunk) with the subs facing up. you could then place some grills over them to protect them. i would also recomend mounting the amps at the rear of the pit behind the brake lights (kinda keeps them out of the way and you can rig a system to cover both them and the subs when you are carrying something in the trunk). thats bout all i can tell ya. nice decisions, good luck.

I was actually between the Kicker comps and the Kappa perfect subs, the reasons I chose to go with the Kickers is b/c I've actually heard them, I have a friend who has a perfect in the back of his third gen, I'll ask him if I can get an ear in.
Im getting a custom box from this site: http://www.subthump.com/acamarovert.htm

I've heard good things about their boxes and I'd been planning on mounting the amp in the back of the pit also. Thanks alot for your help, I'll definately look into the infinity subs

thats the exact box i'm gonna use when i get money to redo my car (my ****e got stolen from my last system so now i have to do it all over again). The kickers are nice but if you have a chance to hear the Perfects you will notice a difference on the clairity side, not so much on how loud they are. Deffinately listen before you buy a sub, no matter what someone tells you, it has to be what you want not what i want so just give it a listen and decide for yourself.
