Can anybody make some recommendations for 2 12's and an amp in the neighborhood of $500 a little more is ok though. I would like them to be of relatively good quality, but I am very new to the stereo bits and pieces.
Thanks in advance!
I do have the Monsoon system, and plan on replacing the H/U.

Thanks! I read up some on this amp, seems to have an overheating problem, which will only be reinforced here in Vegas, are there any similar, but with built in fans. The problem is I wanted to mount it underneath the box at the bottom of the "trunk."

I have heard no such overheating problems with the bp1200.1 Actually my buddy has been running it at 1 ohm for over a year now with not one problem. And we live in Hawaii! Thought about which box you are going to use? Got t-tops?

FINALLY, SOMEONE ELSE THAT LIVES IN VEGAS!!!!
You shouldn't have any trouble with the amp, just keep it out of direct sunlight and you'll be alright

No. You will wire the subs together in either series or parallel depending on their voice coil impedence. Click me for more info.
I own the JBL 1200.1, I have it hooked up to two 12" HX2 subs in a custom box. All I have to say is that BIG wire and a capacitor will help it a lot. It is currently bridged into 1ohm independence, and it runs very very cool. At 1ohm with the 2.4 farad cap I measured just over 1300 watts RMS at a competition I went to around here. To put it simply once my ports were adjusted I blew the hell out of the competition, I love that amp, the fact that I have to sell it kills me :(
BTW if you were having problems with the amp at 1ohm, there are a few reasons. The subs you use can actually effect that, MTX6000's and 8000's dont like low resistance. Also make sure you are grounded properly, the jump from 2 ohm's to 1 ohm for the JBL is big, while it doesnt produce any more power in the leap (maybe 10 watts) it requires a significantly better ground source, or if will develop looping problems. I had issues at 1ohm as well, so I connected it to my frame basically and they all went away.
