• Stereo won't come out....

    Hi all,

I'm trying to take the Head Unit out in my Firebird. I know that you have to remove the plastic cover, and then remove 3 screws. I get to that point, but when I pull the stereo out, it doesn't come out all the way. I think some cable is stuck in the back.

I tried to reach from the back from the passenger side, but still I can't, and I can't figure out what is blocking it to come out all the way

    Anybody has any suggestion?

    Thanks for any help!

    Ben

I think the wires are either caught on something or just too short. The antenna cable is famous for being short as hell and hard as hell to install and remove. You can reach it from the passeneger side if I'm not mistaken. It's a plain black cable that looks like regular coaxil cable for your TV. Just pull it out from the back of the head unit. And I warn you, you have to pull HARD!

Thanks... what side is the antenna in the back? Is it closer to the driver's side or the passenger side? Looks like whatever cable is holding it is closer to the driver's side, since the stereo almost comes out from the passenger side but still it doesn't...

I probably need to remove some other panel, because I'm having a hard time reaching from the back..

      Thanks for the help!

its the CD changer harness most likely, just reach behind, and push it up, there is a little L shaped bracket that it gets cought on
