I have the stock monsoon amp, and the amp runnig my subs and that is it. I have a sony amp that says 222W on it...bought it from a friend. I didn't know if it was possible to attach that to my system or if it would actually be anymore powerful than the power that is already coming from my moonson amp right now. I am into quality, but i am not about to go get bose speakers or anything like MB quart. I like quality, and all around good sound but i won't pay out the ears.
Never mind about the speakers, i was talking about the ones in the sail pannels, i ment passanger speakers, not passanger side. I managed to fix them this morning when i was cleaning up my car.
I work at a audio shop and i allways get compliments on my system from everyone that hears it, so i think that you are taking me the wrong way. Right now the system sounds really nice, but i really just want to take it to the next level, but by saying i don't care about quality i mean that i don't want to pay for mb quarts, not that i don't want to pay for good all around equipment.

I'm not trying to be mean but are you sure you know what YOU are looking for? Several good ideas have been mentioned; however, you keep saying everyone is taking you the wrong way. The way I see it is you simply don't care about quality, all you're looking for is eardrum exploding noise....like what you would experience at either a heavy metal concert or standing next to large guns going off next to your head without ear protection. Just buy a good 4-channel amp, replace your factory Monsoon speakers and be done with it.

No, thanks for the advice though.
I have been listing to what people are saying and i am considering the options. what i have gathered so far is i am going to do frount componets with the amp and beef up my 6x9s. But i don't know what do to about my rear passanger speakers...it is purplexing.
Can i run a good set of componets off my moonsoon amp or is that a no go?

You can but it's not recommended. One reason why is because the Monsoon Amp was designed to see a 2-ohm load on the front speakers (that's why the front 6-3/4"s are 2-ohms). When you hook up the component sets to the Monsoon Amp, the amp will now only see 4-ohms because the component sets are 4-ohm. The difference in Ohms the Monsoon Amp sees will result with the amp now only putting out half its power. Another reason why I wouldn't recommend using the Monsoon Amp to power new components is because the amp itself doesn't really put out a very clean signal to begin with, which causes distortion. One suggestion would be if money is tight, get some new components and run them off the Monsoon Amp temporarily for now. Then get a new amp to drive them, they will sound so much better.

The reason that i don't want to do a new 4 channel is because i have 6 speakers, so that wouldn't work out to well. Is it cool if i run the frounts on a different amp, and then the other 4 on the monsoon, will that work fine, or does that pose a problem?

Couple of options I see. But money is tight....what are your 6x9's running off now? How about a 2 ohm component set and a high power 4-channel amp? Run your new components off 2 of the channels and your 6x9's off the other two. Then keep the stock monsoon speakers with the stock monsoon amp? Is $400 for everything too much?

i'm lost. give me a list of what you want. then give me a rating as to how important different things are to you like sound quality, spl, keeping all of your speakers etc. this would help us out a lot.

You are making all of this more difficult than what it is. For the Monsoon Amp to work at its full potential (what it was designed for in terms of its built crossovers and wattage outputs), it needs to either be hooked up to the factory 'Monsoon Speakers' OR 'aftermarket speakers' that match the 'Ohm' ratings of the Monsoon Speakers. This website gives a detailed breakdown of each speaker in a Monsoon System, which includes exactly what source powers each individual speaker, the location and Ohm rating of the speaker. Again, you can replace some of the original Monsoon Speakers with aftermarket speakers...AND yes it will work. Is it really the right thing to do and the best sounding way?..My personal opinion is absolutely not!

Here are some things to think about:
                    1) Say you replaced the factory 'Monsoon 6-3/4" dual coil subwoofers' (located in back where the rear passengers sit) with 'aftermarket 6-3/4" coaxial speakers.' Seems easy enough but how do you think these will sound? The answer to that is not very good. Why? Because the Monsoon Amp has a built in crossover inside, which only allows 'lower frequencies' to the factory dual-voice subwoofers. This means all you will hear out of the new aftermarket coaxial speakers are bass notes (lower frequencies), the tweeter in the coaxial thus becomes worthless.

2)Say you replaced the factory 'Monsoon front door components' with new 'aftermarket component speakers'. Again, seems easy enough but how do you think it will sound? The answer to that is probably ok but are you getting the most out of the Monsoon Amp.?...No! Why? Because the factory "Monsoon 6-3/4" door speaker' is 2-ohms whereas the new 6-3/4" speaker that's included with new aftermarket speakers is going to be 4-ohms.

If it were me (which is what I'm doing to my car), I would completely eliminate the Monsoon Amp and Speakers all together. All the time, money and effort that goes into trying to make this or that speaker work AND sound good with the Monsoon Amp is....well, nothing but a pain in the A. If I had your car, I would keep your Kicker subs and buy a 4-channel amp to power the 6x9"s wayy in the back and some new component sets in the doors. The speakers where the rear passengers sit...I'd remove them and leave nothing there.

I wish you luck with your system, have a good one.

Why would i remove the subs and the monsoon amp. Can't i do what 96 said? Just leave that there and get my new spearkers in the frount and have those powered by a seperate amp that will also do the 6x9s?

there is no damn reason to keep all of those speakers. the amound of extra spl you get out of those wont be woth the effort. get rid of all you stock ****. Upgrade the fronts and put a good amp to them and call it a day.
