  • Amp Replacement Help

Hey everyone, heres my story I have 2 12" JL w0s and infinity Kappa components upfront, I had a one of those alpine Viz amps in the back not sure what the wattage of it was but it was tiny. Anyway I let my uncle borrow my car and he left a sprayer back there (like a chemical sprayer) and it spilt all over the amp and wrecked it. So now hes replacing it, but I dont know a whole lot about this so I need you help. What type of amp should i get? like how many channel or whatever like say if i want to hook the components to it as well (they werent before) or shpuld i stick with running just the subs on the amp? and what amp should i get based on that? Thanks for you help in advance

I recommend a 4-channel amp. Use the front two channels to powers your components. Then bridge the rear two channels to power your subs. How much is your uncle looking to spend? Search Ebay for "KX600.4" That's about the most power you're going to get for the money. Unless he wants to bump up to the kx800.4?!?! :D

Hooking everything up is easy. You already have the woofer and tweet hooked up to the crossover correct? And then the crossover is hooked up to your head unit? Instead, just run the wires from the crossover to the amp. The amp is clearly labeled "FR" and "FL" for front right or left. positive to positive. Negative to negative. For the subs, what is the impedence of the voice coils? ie. single 2 ohm, single 4 ohm, dual 2 ohm.... You will want to wire them together to achieve a 4ohm load. Run the positive speaker wire to the 3rd channel positive terminal. Then run the negative speaker wire to the negative terminal on the 4th channel.
