What does SPL mean

I have seen it and have tried to think of what it could be but I always get nothing.

it's also mesured in decibles (sp?) or just dB for short. There is also SQ (sound quality) competitions. I don't know what the mesuring meter is though.

Ok cool. I knew it had to do with how loud you can make you system but didn't know what it meant and now I do.

It is ranked on a point system. You have different catagories and , let's say 10 points max in each one. They do measure SPL in SQ comps. but you only have to hit like 130db to get full points in that catagory.
