I just bought 2 sonys xplod 6x9s and an sony amp that says 222w on the frount. The speakers are allready boxes and ready to go, so my qustion is, what do i need to get it to work. I need an amp kit right? What gage though? And how much should i look to pay? Circut City said 70 bucks and that is more than i bought the speakers and amp for. Sorry for the newbie question.

8gage should be fine for the power and ground, and yes that is way to expensive for a wiring kit. go on ebay and do some searches. the other way to do it is to buy all the wire sepperate. you will need about 20+ feet of 8gage wire for the positive (from you battery to the amp but put a fuse in the line near the battery). you will need less than 5ft of 8gage wire for you grond (connect it to the - power input on your amp and then attach the other end to a metal piece of you chasi) then just run your speaker wire, that should be it but i could be missing something (long day at work and im tired) hope this helps you out some, it should all cost between 20 and 30 if you buy it all sepperate.

yeah thats pretty good (i coulnt do any better), just be careful with sony. if you push their speakers they have a tendency to blow. should add some nice lows and mids to your system though, deffinately worth the money. pretty good deal getting your friend to install it all too.
