.. still trying to find out what wire goes to the white shifter plate to light it up inside.. the white part i talk about is on the bottom of the console if you took it out and flipped it over, thats where the bulb goes into. well, now i know where that is, but now i need to know where the wire is that goes into it... can someone be kind enough to get me a picture of the wire with the bulb? (reason i need a picture is because im pretty sure that mine is different..)thanks in advance
Not sure what that wire is that you are pointing to. Use a testlight and see if it has constant power to it OR if it only comes on when the headlights/parkinglights are on. (also check to see if the testlight dims on that wire using your dimmer.)

Not sure why the wire would be missing, it makes no sense. If no luck, use the wire that powers the bulb for the ashtray. </font>[/QUOTE]there is a bulb in the ashtray? where?
might not be on mine since i have the tcs button in that area
I have a 2002 firebird 5-speed but I don't see how that would make a difference...but yeah there is a little light that shines inside the ashtray. From underneath the ashtray itself, there is a hole where the bulb presses into place. I know there's a bulb there because I removed it when I removed my ashtray to mount my neon switch there.
Did you buy your car used? Maybe whoever had it before you started hacking away at the factory wiring for some crazy reason.
Dude this is whacked. You should be able to look down sitting in the drivers seat, you should have a black wire loom running from the front of the consule to the back of the car. A single wire splits out of it going to the shift light & ashtray. It should be plain as day. If not, its not your fault, someone did a hack job on it. I found mine when I thought the light burnt out, but the bulb fell out of the hole, so i put in a blue bulb. Good luck
What is that one connector you're pointing at? Does it look like you can twist it into the shift indicator plate? I have a bulb out in my car right now that's for the shifter indicator. It's the same bulb as the ones in the HVAC controls and in the door panels to illuminate your lock/window switches.
Haven’t done anything on the Camaro, but put LEDs on my truck headlights . And my oil pressure sensor went out on the truck so going to fix that this...
