i'm looking to buyu this receiver. I want Mp3 support, and a nice looking deck and this looks like a great one for the price and all the people i've talked to that have JVC decks say nothing but good things about them. I'm wondering this though

Why is the JVC Kd-SX980 more espensive than this deck (the 990). It looks like they are the exact same thing except for the appearance (the 990 looks better (chrome finished knob look instead of 'alloy' like the 980), but other than that they are the same thing, but the 980 is $10 more expensive???

also, i have the monsoon system, keep that in mind.

    what u guys think?

If it were me, I'd stay away from JVC. IMO it ranks right up there with audiovox and sparkomatic. Spend just a little more money and get a lot more deck from an Alpine or Kenwood or something like that.

The higher model number is probably a little less because it's probably at the end of it's cycle and a new model will be out to replace it soon.

I have the SX980. Good stuff. I've had it for almost a year and haven't had any problems yet. It looks good, plays all of my cds/mp3s, and doesn't skip or overheat or anything. The only thing that I don't like about it is that it doesn't have a motorized face. Besides that I think its the best mp3 receiver you can buy for the money.
