  • Question about a possible idea...

    i was looking at the supercharger mounting schemes for a FBODY and i was curious about something, would it be possible to mount an alternator in the same way that supercharger is mounted? its a similar size and i cant think of another place to put it?
    right now i know my stock alternator is taking a beating from my crossfire 1000D and im thinking a dual alternator system might be the way to go
    if anyone has any ideas on this or any advice i would be glad to hear it before i go design a mounting bracket and buy another 105 amp alternator for it...
    let me know
    thanks
    Jhonathan

    why not just get a new alternator?

    theres a 160 amp one on ebay that fits in the stock spot

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1841586472

    or search for other posts, someone was saying mralternator.com and some other websites sell ones that put out something like 65 amps at idle, which is really good.

      I was seriously looking into the dual alt. setup. (still am actually) A good guy to get H/O alts. from is dominick@tds.net . I sent him an e-mail and here's his reply:
      With minimal mods, I have a 220 amp that does between 130 and 160 amps at idle. Direct bolt on is 180 max with about 80 amps at idle.
      220 $250.00
      180 $220.00
      both with 1yr warranty
      I accept paypal.
      I want to get the 220 amp model. It requires a few extra bracket bolt-on mods. But I'm afraid that even that alt. my not be enough for what I have planned!

      :D ;)
