• so i have this amp and this nice speaker.. have questions on the compatibility of bot

    I have a rockford fosgate 601s http://www.crutchfield.com/S-ZBcRjHx....asp?i=575601S

    and 1 audiobahn aw1006t speaker. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-V5kmsHD...0&I=037AW1006T

Now... the way i have my amp set up is briged at 4 ohms.. with LP enabled. (where it only uses bass..no mids or high)

the way i have the speaker wired up is.. http://www.sounddomain.com/shop/woof..._dvc&x=136&y=8

The sub you have says it a 4 ohm but the last link shows it a 2 ohm load. You will not be able to get a bridge 4 ohm load with that setup. You can do 8ohms(series wire it) and get 300watts rms or run each terminal to the amp. That would create a 150x2 load because both with be 4 ohms. In parallel you would creat a 2 ohm load which that amp will not handle

The link for the sub says it's DUAL 4 ohm and the last link shows he's running it in series making a final load of 8 ohms.

But yes, Firefighter is correct in that you cannot get full power out of that amp with that subwoofer. The best way to wire it would be the way you have it now. However, off the record, if you're feeling ballsy and you're amp is under warranty by a local shop... you could try wiring your subwoofer like option 1 and bridge the amp. The amp will probably eventually kick into protection with Rockford's NOMAD technology.... but maybe not. If the amp is in a well ventilated place, it may play fine. But do this at your own risk. If the amp does not kick into protection for some reason, your amp may give up the ghost. (in which case the protection circuitry was faulty anyway and should be replaced) I have a cheap a$$ Wal-Mart amp in my wife's car running a 2-ohm load bridged. Been fine for over a year now. 39 bucks can't complain. :D

That's funny how cheap amps can handle a 2-ohm load bridged. Remember the brand Urban Audio years ago? A buddy of mine ran two 12's off of one at a 2-ohm load bridged and though you could fry an egg on it, the thing never shut down or burned up

I konw the Rockford Punch amps way back in the early/mid 90's could handle 2-ohms mono. "Maybe" their new stuff can do the same. But like 96firebird said, do this at your own risk.

What made you think it would? Also, very dependant on the enclosure. What kind of box you using now? If you're looking for more output, try building a ported enclosure. Should be easy with only one 10".

I have the Q Logic Sealed 10" single box.

it sure does allow the speaker to get hot. i could fry an egg on that.

My amp is holding out pretty well. only when i have it at max bass it will kickout every 4 or 5 seconds, than get it back.

Now that i've listened to it with various types of music its SO much cleaner than my two 10 inch alpine Type R's..

The only downside is that when it hits.. the volts DROP! what would fix this? I know i need a new battery. But what would be better? Power cap or high power alternator?

yea i have a brand new battery with stock alternator.

when the speaker hits it drops the voltage down to i believe 6. middle off the red part.

what rated alternator should i get?
