  • Found cut wire in Hatch...

Hey what's up everyone. Thought I would make my first post on here and say hi.

I just got a 2002 firebird 3.8 with a 5-speed a few days ago and I couldn't be happier; only has 11K miles on it. Its fully loaded with leather but for some reason it only came equipped with a factory tape deck (monsoon system). I was checking out the hatch earlier today thinking of a good place where I could mount a CD-Changer and I found a thick (silver) wire that's been cut clean and a long plastic bracket of some sorts just laying loose. The cut wire was on the far left side of the hatch tucked under the carpet. My "guess" is that this may be a wire used for the CD-changer? Its fairly thick with a bunch of small wires inside it. I can't stand tape players so I was really looking forward to putting in a cd-player back there. Do you guys think the cut silver wire is factory or what? I hope not. Thanks

I think most or all Fbodies that had a CDchanger compatable HU, but not CD changer option will have the factory wire anyway.

There is plenty of info on the facts page http://mods.firebirdv6.com/stereo.html, and in a search.
