I have a bose system with a sony cdx deck (with the adaptor in it so it will work). I want to add subs, I was thinking of gettign 2 Sony X-Plod subs,I like how they are red and they would match my red camaro, But do I get 10"s or 12"s? What do people prefer? Also where can i get a box? I have t-tops so I want to put the subs on the rear deck. My friend was telling me that I can use small truck boxes. I dont want to pay 200 for a stealth boz. Just dont have the money. I have a small amp that my friend gave me and I want to try to use that to save money. But what is the right way to hook it all up? Im new at car audio so could someone please help me, Thanks.

There. That solves your box needs! He makes several boxes for your car that still allow t-top storage. Stay away from sony subs!!!! Don't choose subs buy how they look, choose them by how they preform!! Give me some more info and I can help you more. How much money would you like to spend for the subs? What kind of amp did your friend give you? How many watts RMS is it?

Ok thanks, I want to spend about $250-$300 for the whole thing. I know its not much i may have to spend more but its all i got. What subs do you reccomend? And how many? I also liked the sony ones cause I could get 2 12"s for $100. The amp my friend gave me its a legacy amp, I dont know how many watts, It has 2 channels, crossover and briged. And do you know anythign cheaper than the boxes from sun thump.com?

When it comes to electronics, "you get what you pay for" certainly comes to mind. Most definately stay away from Sony subs. You can get new Alpine 12s for around $130 each. Here's a pair of used Audiobahns for $100 each. Waaaay better than Sony's

Legacy amps are low quality low dollar amps. I doubt that it has much power either. I have a USA2200 I might sell (200x2RMS) and it would put most legacys to shame. Both power wise and sound quality. Very clean, cool-running amp.
As for a box, two truck boxes will look like crap. Most likely won't have enough air space either.
I have a used one for sale totally low-ball cheap. Well box that is. Pics of it are on my site at the top where the picture changes. It has my old alpines in it. I didn't make that particular box, but it's for sale. It would work great with some small box subs like Alpines. The cut-outs are 10-7/8". $25 plus shipping and its yours. I need to get it out of my way.
Maybe someday you can afford to upgrade and I'll be able to hook you up.
