I blew out both of the back seat speakers, any suggestions on a good replacement would be very helpful. (all of my equipment is stock)

Do you have the Monsoon system?

um... i dont really know. Are there numbers anywhere that would tell? Nothing says "monsoon" anywhere like i know the newer models do, but it does (did) sound pretty good. there's a component set up front and speakers (i guess 6x9's) in the hatch and then the one's by the rear seats that blew (4 1/2 or something)

      hopefully that helps...

      ... it probably didnt

Since you have the components in the doors, you have the Monsoon system. (it doesn't have to say Monsoon anywhere to be the monsoon system.)

The speakers where the rear passengers sit you are talking about are 6-3/4" dual voice coil subwoofers. You can usually find people selling them used on Ebay. Keep in mind that those are "Subwoofers," which is why the factory Monsoon Amp has a built in crossover allowing them to play lower frequencies only. Replacing them with an aftermarket coaxial speaker isn't recommended.

Read the stereo section in the mod encyclopedia to find out if you have the monsoon system. And here's a good link for ya.

OK, so i checked my #'s today and I do not have the monsoon code (UN0). But, I read that link and the way they described the system sounds exactly like what I have (like the subs and all). So, i guess im asking what the monsoon has that the regular stereo doesnt.

I am also thinking that i might have the monsoon anyway. bc like my car chimes twice like i have anti- theft mode, but I don't, so im wondering if maybe this is the same sort of deal.

Besides the actual "Monsoon" system, our cars can come equipped with what's called the "Entertainment System: 10-Speakers with Amplifier" option. Why GM did this, I don't know, but they both are the same thing.

Look on your drivers door again and see if you have the RPO code: W55. This is what I have.
