  • Factory Alarm Installation

I'm looking at the Firebird accessories catalogue online, and they list alarms in it. One of the alarms listed is part number 12497736, and the description is VSS 2000 Base Sytem (Passive Arming.) Another is part number 12497737 and the description is VSS 2200 Base Sytem (Active Arming.)

Anyone here know what the difference between passive and active arming is? The GM list price on the passive arming one is $99, and list on the active arming one is $159.

Passive Arming = arms 30 seconds after doors are closed.

Active Arming = arms when button on remote is pushed and doors also lock
