  • Subs turning on and off??

Got my wiring situation all worked out but now my subs appear to turn on only when they want to or if i turn the volume up loud enough. I mean I can hear them turning on or off? Anyone have any idea what could be wrong or is this normal? I mean this happens in the morning also, so it's not like the amps are over heated. help!

on many amps there is a power protect mode when either the power is too low to the amp, to high, or the subs are being over driven, I had a 300 watt sub on my 1000 watt amp ( sub was mislabled) and the amp kept shutting off when I would turn it up a little or on a strong bass hit. A friend of mine also had a setup once where he used the wires from his rear speakers as the input for the amp, which was giving bad signal and was over driving his subs. fixed with an amp with preouts.

Takumi probably hit it on the head with what's wrong, but I had a similar situation where my system would turn on and off....so on and so forth. Ended up being the remote circuit in my amp. I think it's probably the "power protect" like said earlier though.

might just be overheating the amp too.

Usually overheating on most amps is due to a bad remote setup, as in wiring the power that goes in the 12v slot right to the remote with a short wire. causes MASS HEAT beacuse of the physics between changing wire gauge like that causes heat. Bad signal- heat makes lots of resistance in the wire, and the hotter the wire gets more and more resistance, so hence it'l shut ur amp off cause it thinks its getting a resist setting from the deck. Or its what i said before =)
