• Is this it?

ok, I'm making a checklist of everything I need for my new system.

I want to keep my factory HU and add 4 speakers and 2 subs in the hatch.

Besides the subs/box/speakers and the PAC OEM-1, what else will I need?

Is this job gonna be easy?

No. lol just kidding man. It's not that hard. Are you planning on making the box yourself? That can be tricky in our cars. You can buy really nice customs sub boxes from www.subthump.com Some of these allow you to keep t-top storage. (if you have t-tops!!)

You forgot one of the biggest things... AMPS!!!!!!!!!! They give you all the power to drive your speakers. The Pac Oem-1 gives you 2 sets of RCA's out (I think) you will run these to your amp or amps. If you want to save some money, I recommend getting a 5 channel amp, but it's going to be tough finding one powerful enough to drive 2 subs. You might have to go with 2 amps. And don't forget wiring!

      96firebird311 beat me to it.

Amp wiring kit, speaker wire, fuses. Just basic stuff. D-block if you will have more than one amp. Actually two D-blocks, one for the ground wires as well.

Why would he need a d-block for the ground wires? Unless he was running them all the way back up to the battery..... really no need for that though.

He will need a D-block for the ground wires because usually you want to use the same ground for all your equipment, at least thats what I've heard. I have a d-block on the back wall of my car for my ground wires. I have a 4 gauge ground wire connected to the piece of metal that holds the trunk catch mechanism. The 4 ga. wire goes to the d-block which has (4) 8ga. inputs. I have two being used for both of my amps, and one for my neons, crossover, and relay. You could just put ring terminals on all of these wires and connect them to the same screw but I find it alot easier to just screw one wire to the metal and attach everything else to the d-block.

SunsetOrange98Camaro is Right. If you run a two amp set up you will need two distribution blocks (D_blocks) the one for the power wire should be fused and the ground block can be just a plain cheap d-block. It is not good practice to jump a ground wire from one amp to another, b/c there is the chance that if one amp goes bad it could screw up the other one. With a d-block= no problems.

I wouldn't suggest building a box for these cars, it's a b**ch. I tried but was both unpleased with the look and sound so I went with the q-logic and expanded the chamber size

            just my .02

Not CAN be, SHOULD be! You never fuse a ground wire!!! I'm not talking jumper ground wries from amp to amp. Both of my amp are about 1 foot from the ground location so I just ran two short pieces of wire to the grounding point. A d-block for power wire will break it into smaller wires that your amp with accept. There is no reason to do the opposite for ground, it doesn't care what size wire it has!! A d-block won't do anything for ground except maybe save some wire. Yes, you should try to use the same ground for all of your equipment.

I think thats what superbird meant. Im assuming he was saying you dont need to buy a fancy, aerodynamic, expensive d-block-just a plain cheap one.

Oh really, thats new to me. So you can ground a 500 watt amp with an 18-gauge wire?? Always use the same size wire for ground that you do for power, ALWAYS!! Bigger wire is fine too, as long as its not smaller.

                      Thanks SunsetOrange98Camaro

Georgia boys have to stick together!!!

and 96firebird311 that is what I meant. I would never use a fused ground block. I just meant that you don't have to go out and buy a 30.00 ground block from stinger. I have a stinger + d block and a cheap negative with a stinger sticker on it. Only 2.50 on ebay. Plus I like the d-block setup becuase it makes for a clean looking install.

IF you really want to get some power to your amp why don't you just run 20 GA from the battery back.
