attaching to the battery

i got a big amp kit cause i got a deal on it...

basically my questions are about how to connect to the battery

do i need a gm side mount battery post adapter? (looks like a little brass knob)

should i use the power block that came with the kit? has a clamp on one end and looks like a distribution block on the other...if so how do i wire that with the existing power wires for the car?

do i just use the ring terminal on the end of the power cable in conjunction with the side mount battery post? im using a distribution block farther back in the car, so i only need one extra power cable going thru the firewall(4 guage)...i can disregard that clamp terminal completely if easier.

ps: when running speaker wire for the components, how should i keep it away from the power wire on the side of the car the power wire runs on? run the speaker wire to the xovers thru the floor and the power wire thru the roof or the other way around? how far apart should they be to avoid noise?

It is far easier to use the top posts on the battery if you have them. If you do, get a clamp and clamp the power wire to it. Same for the neg. post. You just have to run the neg. wire to the closest ground under the hood. Next, unscrew the PCM (two bolts) in the upper left corner of the car. Beneath that there is a rubber grommet going through the firewall. You can fit up to 0AWG wire through there. Run the power wire under your carpet all the way back to the amps. Don't forget to fuse the power wire under the hood!!!! Try to keep the power wire away from your RCA's. What amp/s are you using again? You'll need the distribution block if you have 2 or more amps. Yes, you can run the speaker wire for your comps. through the roof but you could also just run them straight up the middle of the car, as close to the middle console as you can get. Run the power wire as far on the passenger side as you can get. There really is no distance it HAS to be apart, it depends on how much current your running. Post if you have any more questions.

If your battery does not have a top mount post (mine didnt) you will have to get the gm battery post adapter like you were talking about. Its really cool because it lets you disconnect your power for your amps without disconnecting the car's power wire.

im just confused

the power wire for the car is in that big rubber thing

do i take the wires out?

or just screw that (the little nut) into the gm side battery post adapter and clamp the power terminal onto the adapter?

Ok, here's what you do. Take the power wire for your car off of the battery. Take the screw out of the power wire ring, it just pops out. Take the GM side post adapter and pop its screw into the power wire. Tighten the adapter to the battery. Now on the end of the adapter you can take off a separate screw. Attach your power wire for your amps to this separate screw. Thats it.
