It's too bad I am at school right now, if I were at home get an amp from my uncle to go with these 12s :D He's got a BUNCH of amps he buys off ebay broken and fixes them all hehe.
What kind of amp would you run to those type-rs?
I found 2 type-rs for $220 and the guy is in Orange County so I will save money on shipping... if he has the dual 2 ohm speakers I am going to get them TODAY!!!!! Just waiting for an e-mail...
Hey 96Firebird i was checking on the alpine website and found what speakers they have - the type S comes in 4 ohm, dual 4 ohm, and dual 2 ohm.
the type R comes in dual 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm.
So which setup, 4 ohm, 4+4, or 2+2 will be best for my amp? If just 4 ohm would be best I'll probably get those Type Ss, but if you think dual 2 ohm is the best then I found some dual 2 ohm type Rs for $215 and hopefully I can go pick them up to save shipping.
i believe the dual 2ohm can be hooked up in series to make it a 4 ohm sub. correct me if im wrong here guys. i personally would say to go with an infinity kappa perfect over a type R. I've never heared a type R sound that good but that could have been the setups i have heared and not actually the subs.

I am just going to get a sigle 4 ohm speaker...
That's what is in there right now and I don't know how to wire this **** so it will be easier for me to just wire up a single 4 ohm... going to get the Fosgate HE2s or HX2s whatever this place is selling..
fosgate is great if you want loud but dont expect great clarity. if you want the best comprimise between sq and spl i would tell you to go to www.ikesound.com and look into the kappa series at least. not trying to push it on you but just take a look, they are only like 100 dollars a peice. good luck either way. remember its all up to you and if it sounds right to you get it and dont let anyone tell you that you screwed up.

I already picked up some 12" Fosgate HEs, but one of em doesn't work :( turn it up about half way and it rattles or something, sounds weird...
They don't sound too bad though, I just needed a cheap fix until this summer basically. Hopefully this summer I can have my uncle build me a real stereo... I wanna get a 15" kicker solo-barac (however you spell it) or maybe a 13w7, but the JL speakers are so damned expensive.
I got both of these for $150 tho, so it wasn't really a bad price I guess... I gotta go back tomorrow and get a new one though, kind of a pain in the ***, but as long as he gives me a new one I won't have a problem.
batmobile, not to be a d!ck or anything, but you had people looking up stuff for you trying to help you out and eventually all you did was go to a store and get HE's which weren't even mentioned once in this thread of 37+posts. Next time, if you're just going to take the advice of someone at a store, don't waste people's time on here. I'm personally not mad at you, but I can see how others would be.

I know LARRYfireBIRD, and I said numerous times that I really appreciated their help.
If you look back through this thread of 37+ posts you will see that 20, now 21, are mine... 5 of them aren't even about my speakers, so that cuts the amount of help down a little... either way, I don't want to sound ungreatful, I appreciate their help like I said.
The speakers that were suggested were either too expensive, like the Image Dynamics IDv.3 that were $120 each plus shipping, or they were not available, like the Type-Rs, so I bought what was available, affordable, and what I could actually hook up myself without messing my amp up.
I didn't "just take the advice of someone at a store" either, I intially took 96firebird's advice but they didn't have the Type-Rs, so I listened to my uncle and bought single 4 ohm speakers, the HEs being the only single 4 ohm available to me.
People's time will get wasted regardless though, if I got 10 suggestions for speakers, 9 people's times will be "wasted" because I can't buy 10 pairs of speakers...
